Preparing for painting involves the removal of items of furniture or other equipment from the balcony and balcony walls, so that they are clear for maintenance and painting. This is to avoid damage to furniture and to allow the painters free access to walls and ceilings and to waterproof the balcony tiles and grout.

Note: Penthouse owners have additional obligations to remove items from their foyers and bin chute rooms (when appropriate) and to remove fixed covers installed over their sunhood/pergola (where installed) to allow for the maintenance and painting of the sunhood frame.
